Foundation · Operational Accounting

Build the financial foundation your business depends on.

Reliable books. A close that happens on time. Monthly reports you can trust, with fewer surprises. This is the financial base the rest of your company runs on. It is not cheap bookkeeping.

Everything above this line depends on the numbers being right.

Why owners call us

When the books stop keeping up with the business.

Good accounting is quiet. You notice it only when it breaks. By then it is costing you time, clarity, or cash.

Most owners call when the basics fall behind the pace of the business. If any of these sound familiar, the foundation needs work.

What we handle
  • The books are behind, and you're not sure the balances are right.
  • The month-end close is late, uneven, or does not happen at all.
  • There is no monthly report you can plan around.
  • Doing the books yourself eats up your nights and weekends.
  • Old records are messy and need a real cleanup first.
  • Nothing is documented — the process lives in one person's head.
None of this means the business is in trouble. It usually means the company grew faster than its accounting did.

What's included

The day-to-day accounting, run properly — and on a schedule.

We take over the accounting work you hand us and run it the same way every month. The tasks are just the how. Here is what each group is really for.

Books you can trust

Bookkeeping and reconciliations

Accurate, current records are the base for every other number.

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping and transaction coding
  • Bank and credit-card reconciliations
  • Balance-sheet account reconciliations

Outcome

You can trust the balances, because the accounts tie out.

A close on schedule

Month-end close and general ledger

A close that happens on time turns raw activity into numbers you can use.

  • Structured month-end close on a set calendar
  • General ledger maintenance and journal entries
  • Accruals and period-end adjustments

Outcome

The books close on a predictable schedule instead of drifting.

Reporting you can plan around

Financial statements and reporting

Steady monthly statements give you a clear, on-time picture.

  • Financial statement preparation (profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statement)
  • Consistent monthly financial reporting
  • Reporting coordinated with your tax CPA

Outcome

You know where the business stands — every month, without chasing it.

Money in and money out

Accounts payable and receivable

Bills paid on time and customers billed fast keep cash moving.

  • Accounts payable and vendor bill management
  • Accounts receivable, billing, and invoicing
  • Collections support to keep receivables current

Outcome

Fewer late fees, faster collections, and steadier cash coming in and going out.

People paid correctly

Payroll accounting and coordination

Payroll that matches the books keeps your people and your numbers right.

  • Payroll accounting and reconciliation
  • Coordination with your payroll provider
  • Payroll liabilities tracked and tied out

Outcome

Payroll ties to the general ledger, so labor cost is accurate.

A foundation that lasts

Cleanup, setup and documented process

We fix the past and write down the process, so the whole system holds up.

  • Accounting cleanup of messy or backlogged records
  • Chart of accounts and system setup
  • Documented, repeatable accounting process

Outcome

The process no longer lives in one person's head — it's written down and repeatable.

What changes after

From behind and uncertain to reliable and on schedule.

Once the foundation is set, the financial side stops being a worry. It becomes something you can lean on.

01

Reliable books

Accounts reconcile, balances tie out, and you can trust what the numbers say.

02

A close that happens on schedule

The month-end close runs on a set calendar instead of whenever there's time.

03

Monthly reporting you can trust

Statements land on time, so you always know where you stand.

04

Fewer financial surprises

Problems surface in the reporting — not in the bank balance or at tax time.

Who it's for

Owners who need the numbers handled properly — not perfectly staffed.

This is the right level of support when you need dependable accounting but not a full finance team yet.

You run the business. We'll run the books. We give growing companies the accounting discipline of a big firm, without hiring for every role first.

Small and owner-operated businesses

You have outgrown a box of receipts and a part-time bookkeeper, and need the books handled right.

Contractors and skilled trades

Serious operators who need clean books, current billing, and solid records behind the work.

Businesses cleaning up and starting fresh

Records have fallen behind, and you want a clean start plus a written process from here on.

Where this fits

The foundation the rest of your finance function is built on.

Operational Accounting is the first level of a path. Most clients start here and move up as the business grows. You do not switch providers each time. The finance function grows with you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Isn't this just bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping is part of it, but the point is broader. This is the financial base the rest of the company depends on: accurate books, a close on schedule, financial statements, AP/AR, and payroll accounting. We run them as one dependable system. The goal is not cheap data entry. It is reliable numbers you can run the business on.

Our books are a mess and behind. Can you still help?

Yes. Cleanup is a normal place to start. We bring messy or backlogged records current, reconcile the accounts, set up the chart of accounts, and document the process. That gives you a clean baseline before we take over the day-to-day work.

Do you replace our tax accountant?

No. Tax work and outsourced accounting work together. We keep your books and reporting clean and coordinate with your tax CPA. We do not prepare tax returns unless you add that to your engagement.

Can you work with our existing bookkeeper or software?

Yes. We often work alongside an in-house bookkeeper or your current software. We can add extra capacity, provide oversight, or own specific tasks. We fit into your setup instead of forcing a rebuild you do not need.

How long does the month-end close take once you're running it?

The aim is a predictable close on a set calendar each month. The exact timing depends on the size of the business and the state of the starting records. But because we run it as a documented process, it happens on schedule instead of whenever there is time.

What happens when we need more than accurate books?

That is the next level. When you need someone actively managing cash, receivables, controls, and margins, you move up to Controller and Financial Management. This turns accounting into a working financial-management system. The foundation stays in place, and the management layer sits on top.
